English Premier League side, Manchester United, confirmed its spot in the Uefa Europa League final with a 7-1 aggregate win against Spanish La Liga side, Athletic Club, winning 4-1 on the night.
Ruben Amorim’s Reds came from behind to emerge victorious over their Spanish visitors at Old Trafford, thanks to a brace from former Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount.
Through a well-struck, curled finish in the 31st minute, Mikel Jauregizar placed Athletic Club in front; the Spanish side held their lead until the end of the first 45 minutes.
Leny Yoro assisted Mount to level for the hosts in the 72nd, followed by two (2) goals from Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund in the 80th and 85th minutes respectively, before Mount sealed it up with the fourth in the 1st minute of additional time.
The outcome takes Manchester United to the final to slug it out with Tottenham Hotspur, who defeated Bodøe/Glimt 2-0 on Thursday night, and scaled through with a 5-1 aggregate victory over their Norwegian opponents.
The Uefa Europa League 2024/25 final will be played on 21 May 2025 at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.
