Uefa Europa League 2024/25 (Final): Tottenham 1-0 Manchester United – If United don’t want me, I’ll go – Amorim

Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim, has said he will exit Manchester United if the club’s board and fans no longer need his services – after their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur left him down.

Tottenham defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the final of the Uefa Europa League on Wednesday 21 May, 2025 at Estadio San Mamés, Bilbao Spain, thanks to Brennan Johnson’s 42nd minute goal.

Amorim’s United are left with no chances of European football next season, holding the 16th place in the Premier League table in the midst of a load of woes on and off the pitch.

The former Sporting CP boss arrived at Old Trafford in November, 2024 with the club 13th in the table. They have fallen three places with Amorim knocked out of the three cup competitions in the process. However, the Portuguese coach is of the belief he is still the right man to take Manchester United to the promised land.

In his post-defeat comments, Amorim said: “If the board and the fans feel I’m not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation.

“But I will not quit again. I am confident in my job. As you see, I will not change anything in the way I do things.

“In this moment, I am not here to defend myself. It’s not my style. I have nothing to show to the fans. In this moment [I need] a little bit of faith.”

Tottenham Hotspur Argentine defender, Cristian Romero, emerged Uefa Europa League Player Of The Season.

The win hands Tottenham Hotspur a ticket in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26.
