Tottenham Hotspur Argentine defender, Cristian Gabriel Romero, has won the Uefa Europa League Player Of The Season following his beautiful contribution to Spurs’ amazing victory in the competition.
In the final of the Uefa Europa League which held on Wednesday 21 May, 2025 inside the magnificent Estadio San Mamés, Bilbao in Spain, home ground of La Liga outfit, Athletic Club, Tottenham Hotspur discomfited Manchester United by a lone goal.
Despite Ruben Amorim’s Reds taking full control of the showdown, Brennan Johnson’s goal in the 42nd minute was enough for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs to emerge victorious and lift the trophy on Wednesday night.
It was an encounter – and goal – that was befitting of a showdown between the Premier League’s 16th and 17th-placed teams, however, it was Spurs who eventually ended their silverware drought, winning their first title since 2008.
Born in Greece, grew up in Melbourne, Australia, Ange Postecoglou’s comment earlier in the campaign that he always wins trophies in his second season has been vindicated.
Tottenham Hotspur wrote: “Immense throughout the campaign.
“Cristian Romero is the Europa League Player of the Season.”
This victory means Tottenham Hotspur have secured their spot in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26.
HC: Ruben Amorim should find a way to strengthen his defence and stop being the first to concede. Coming back ain’t always easy! Some teams are ready to pay whatever the cost to hold on to one goal until the end.
