Uefa Europa Conference League 2024/25 (Final): Real Betis 1-4 Chelsea – Cole Palmer wins POTM

Following his inspirational performance for Chelsea in the UECL final against Real Betis, English attacking midfielder, Cole Palmer, emerged Player Of The Match.

The Englishman inspired Enzo Maresca’s Blues to a beautiful 4-1 comeback triumph over their Spanish opponents in Poland on Wednesday 28 May, 2025.

Real Betis had gone in front early, in the 9th minute, through A. Ezzalzouli, converting Isco’s assist; the Blues were unable to level in the first 45 minutes following dull performance.

However, a much improved Chelsea levelled in the seond half after Cole Palmer’s assist was converted by Enzo Fernandez in the 65th minute, and then, Nicholas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moses Caicedo made made it two, three and four in the 70th, 83rd minutes and 1st minute of additional time respectively.

The English Premier League side never slowed down their intensity or domination and highlighted the work of their head coach as two substitutes linked up to seal victory late on.

Defender, Reece James, who felt a a little dejected for not starting the final said: “It’s devastating to find out you’re not starting a final. I want to play every game, but it was the manager’s decision.”
