Davide Frattesi’s goal in extra-time decided a Champions League semi-final as Inter Milan discomfited Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate after a 4-3 second leg win at the San Siro, Milan, Italy on Tuesday 6 May, 2025.
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter took a 2-0 lead in a stunning first half, with Lautaro Martinez – who had been an injury doubt until late on Tuesday – finishing a fine team move in the 21st minute.
Then, VAR awarded the hosts a penalty in the 1st minute of first half additional time which was converted by Hakan Çalhanoglu to take Inter two goals in front.
Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo brought Barcelona level in the 54th and 60th minutes respectively, before Raphinha netted the third for Hansi Flick’s Catalans to take the Spanish giants ahead in the 87th minute.
The Italian side fought on and equalized through Francesco Acerbi in the 5th minute of additional time.
Frattesi netted the winner in the 9th minute of extra time to hand Inter a well-deserved spot in the final to slug it out with the winner between PSG and Arsenal who will lock horns on Wednesday 7 May, 2025 at Parc des Princes, Paris, France at 20:00 (WAT).
It’s the second time Inter is reaching the Uefa Champions League final in three (3) years.
