Scotland: Wildfire warning extended across country

Wildfire warning signalling extreme risk has been extended across mainland Scotland.

Dry, warm weather was heightening the chance of fires breaking out, the Scottish Fire and Rescue said.

The Service is asking people to be very cautious with naked flames in the countryside. Meanwhile, latest report from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), reveals, that a lack of rain is leading to water levels falling in many rivers across the country.

Across Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders, up through the Firth of Forth and Firth of Tay, scarcity of water is becoming rampant as well as reaching all parts of Aberdeenshire.

People are being asked to consider that fires sparked by cigarettes and barbeques can have consequences on wildfire, rural communities and agriculture.
