Real Madrid: Valverde diagnosed with lower back injury

After medical tests, Real Madrid Uruguayan midfieder, Federico Valverde, has been diagnosed with lower back injury, the club has announced.

The Medical Services of Real Madrid disclosed, following tests carried out on Sunday, Valverde has been diagnosed with discomfort as a result of knock in the lower back.

The Spanish La Liga giants announced, his recovery will be monitored. The player’s injury update is coming following the top flight clash between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Valverde was in action when Real Madrid locked horns with Real Sociedad in the La Liga match on Saturday 24 May, 2025 at Santiago Bernabeu.

The Los Blancos, guided by Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti, discomfited their visitors by two (2) goals to nothing (0), with French forward, Kylian Mbappe, netting both goals in the 38th and 83rd minutes.

The encounter was Croatian midfieder, Luka Modrić’s, and head coach, Ancelotti’s last appearances for the club.

Real Madrid has confirmed that former German Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen, manager, Xabi Alonso, will take over managerial duties as Ancelotti departs Santiago Bernabeu.

The Club made known that, Alonso will be unveiled on Monday 26 May, 2025 as the club’s head coach, and his contract with the club will run until 2028.

On Sunday 25 May, 2025, Alonso will meet with the club President, Florentino Perez, where the Spaniard will put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Real Madrid for three (3) years.
