Arsenal came back from two goals down to claim a point at the home of the newly-crowned champions, Liverpool, despite finishing the game with ten men.
Liverpool had moved 2-0 ahead in the first half, with both goals coming in the space of 87 seconds. Cody Gakpo headed the first at the near post in the 20th minute before Luis Diaz tapped in Dominik Szoboszlai’s shot on the line in the 21st minute.
Gabriel Martinelli headed Mikel Arteta’s Gunners back into the match soon after the restart, and Mikel Merino levelled after Martin Odegaard’s cracking shot had been tipped onto the post.
However, Merino was sent off in the 79th minute for a second bookable offence, and Arsenal had to defend for the last ten minutes before making it 13 away Premier League games without a loss.
