Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, pleaded with Hajj pilgrims “to remember to pray for our State and nation.”
The Governor made the plea at the farewell ceremony for Hajj pilgrims which he atteneded; and urged them to be “good ambassadors of Oyo State”.
He hoped that, by next year, the pilgrims will be able to take off from Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan as the airport is under upgrade; saying, the upgrade on the Airport will be completed later this year.

Governor Makinde (X/@seyiamakinde) said: “We attended the farewell ceremony for Hajj pilgrims. In my remarks, I urged them to remember to pray for our State and nation. I also said they should be good ambassadors of Oyo State. We look forward to them being able to fly directly from Ibadan next year as the upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to an international airport is scheduled to be completed later this year.”
