On Sunday 18 May, 2025, Ogun State welcomed the nation for the grand Opening Ceremony of the 22nd National Sports Festival – Gateway Games 2024 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, said, “this moment marks a bold step in our commitment to using sports as a tool for unity, youth empowerment, and socio-economic transformation.”
He expressed his gratitude to the President, Bola Tinubu; Vice President, Kashim Shettima; former President, Olusegun Obasanjo; Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka; Governors; and other distinguished guests, for “unwavering support” and gracing the occasion with their presence in solidarity, saying, this is “a powerful statement of national unity and shared purpose”.
