A tsunami warning has been issued by Chile telling people to evacuate a coastal area in the south of country following an enormous earthquake.
Chile issued the warning for the remote Magallanes region on the country’s southern tip.
It is coming after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit 219km (136 miles) off the coast of the city of Ushuaia, in Argentina on Friday at 13:58 local time, as disclosed by the United States Geological Survey.
President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, said: “We call for evacuation of the coastline throughout the Magallanes region. At this time, our duty is to be prepared and heed the authorities. Regional and national COGRID (Cogrid of the Nationwide Risk Management System) is underway. All state resources are available.”
