Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, said, “the feelings today are mixed”.
The Spaniard’s statement is coming following his side’s draw in the top flight encounter against Freiburg on Sunday evening.
Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen ended 2-2 in the Bundesliga match on Sunday 4 May, 2025 with the Black and Reds coming from two goals down to grab a point.
Leverkusen’s failure to defeat Freiburg confirmed Bayern Munich as new Kings of Germany; and Harry Kane winning his first major trophy.
In his post-Freiburg comments, Alonso said: “I always tell my players: a 2-0 lead is dangerous – one goal can change everything. After Flo’s great goal, we had another chance and Jona scored the second. The feelings today are mixed.”
