Bundeliga 2024/25: Freiburg 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen – Draw confirms Bayern Munich champions

Bayern Munich are now the new Champions of Germany after Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen finished 2-2 in the Bundesliga match on Sunday 4 May, 2025 at Europa-Park Stadion.

This means England captain Harry Kane has now won the first major trophy of his career.

Bayern Munich secured their 12th title in 13 years as last year’s winners Bayer Leverkusen relinquished their grip on the trophy with a draw at Freiburg.

Xabi Alonso’s Black and Reds needed to emerge victorious to delay Bayern’s celebration for another week, however, had to settle for a point despite a two-goal comeback to deny their Champions League-chasing hosts.

Maxi Eggestein opened scoring for the hosts in the 44th minute, and a Piero Hincapie own goal doubled fourth-placed Freiburg’s lead three minutes after the break.

Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah scored late in the 82nd minutes and 3rd minute of additional time respectively to hand the visitors a point from the encounter.

Bayer Leverkusen’s efforts were not enough to extend Bayern Munich title party as they sit eight points behind Bayern with two games remaining.

For English forward, Kane, who has netted 24 Bundesliga goals in 29 games, it is a first team trophy in 15 seasons since making his professional debut.

HC: Congrats to Bayern Munich and Harry Kane! Good move for Kane as Tottenham Hotspur still wriggles below top ten in the Premier League.
