Bayern Munich: ‘It’s hard to imagine Thomas no longer playing in the red and white jersey’ – Max Eberl

Bayern Munich Board Member for Sport, Max Eberl, said, “It’s hard to imagine Thomas no longer playing in the red and white jersey.”

German midfielder, Thomas Müller, has announced, he will leave Allianz Arena at the end of the 2024/25 season at the expiration of his contract this summer.

Müller played for Bayern Munich for twenty-five (25) years, recorded more than 700 first team appearances, and clinched twenty (20) trophies; the decision to not extend his contract has been made.

Eberl made his statement at his press conference ahead of the Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday 10 May, 2025 at Allianz Arena at 17:30 (WAT).

On Bayern Munich’s trophy party tomorrow, Eberl said, “It will be very emotional for everyone involved.”

Max Eberl said:

How Bayern Munich’s trophy celebrations will be tomorrow?

“It will be very emotional for everyone involved. It’s hard to imagine Thomas no longer playing in the red and white jersey. Thomas is relaxed. We don’t know what he’s feeling inside. But it will be a very special day in the history of FC Bayern.”

The season in summary

“At the moment, the season is still being viewed as a bit too normal. Last season, we didn’t live up to our expectations. This season, we’ve been top of the table since the third matchday, we were very stable, and we’ve always responded very well to setbacks. It’s a special, important championship. We knew the pressure was on in every game. We played on equal terms against both #UCL finalists. In the DFB-Pokal, we dominated Leverkusen despite being a man down and were then eliminated. There’s a different spirit now. This season marked an important step forwards and we’re hungry for more!”
