Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, will leave BayArena at the end of his season after reaching an agreement with the club to terminate his contract which is suppose to expire in 2026.
The Spaniard said, “I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the fantastic fans.”
Alonso guided the Black and Reds to win the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Supercup in 2024; he reached the final of the Uefa Europa League 2023/24 but lost to Italian side, Atalanta, three (3) goals to nothing – all three (3) goals scored by Nigerian forward and reigning CAF Player of The Year, Ademola Lookman.
Alonso said: “I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, to my players and staff, to all of the club’s employees, and last but not the least, to the fantastic fans.”
Bayer Leverkusen will announce Alonso’s successor when the time comes, the club said.
