President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, has officially signed the ‘Take It Down Act’ into law following the “illegal” distribution of “deep fakes and explicit images of countless women against their will”.
The distribution of these “explicit images” is happening following the “rise of AI image generation”, the US President said.
He said, his government is “making it totally illegal.”
According to cloudflare.com:
Artificial intelligence (AI) image generation is a type of generative AI for producing visual content. It uses mathematical analysis to identify and duplicate patterns within photos and illustrations. In simpler terms, AI image generators create images based on a set of examples.
Rather than an artist with a paintbrush, an AI image generator is more like a gambler placing bets on probable sporting outcomes. The content it produces is statistically likely to fulfill the request that it received.
President Trump announced: “It is my honor to officially sign the ‘Take It Down Act’ into law…With the rise of AI image generation, countless women have been harassed with deep fakes and other explicit images distributed against their will…We’re making it totally illegal.”
