The coffin of Pope Francis has been entombed.
His Holiness’ final resting place is the Basilica of St. Mary Major in central Rome, Italy
Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of the Vatican City State, passed on Easter Monday, 21 April, 2025 at the age of eighty-eight (88).
People in hundreds of thousands lined the streets of Rome to see as Pope Francis’ coffin was brought from the Vatican to the Basilica.
In more than 100 years, Pope Francis is the first to be buried outside the Vatican, and his entombment was an event held privately, making way for those closest to him to pay their respects.
