Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, announced, he received “high-powered” delegation from Kano led by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Gwarzo following the killing of hunters from Kano in the South-South State.

The Governor said, “We are taking deliberate steps to ensure that such a painful event never repeats itself.”

He added, “during the visit, we also proceeded to Uromi, where we met with members of the Hausa Community. Edo and Kano share long-standing ties in commerce, culture, and coexistence and we will continue to protect that relationship.”

Governor Okpebholo said: “In the wake of the Uromi incident that claimed the lives of hunters from Kano State. Today, I received a high-powered delegation from Kano led by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Gwarzo here in Edo State. This tragedy has touched us all. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep concern and, in collaboration with the Edo State Government, a Fact-Finding Committee has been set up to thoroughly investigate the incident, identify its root causes, and recommend lasting solutions.

“This isn’t just a response—it’s a firm commitment to peace, justice, and the value of every human life. We are taking deliberate steps to ensure that such a painful event never repeats itself. The delegation also presented a detailed report to support the work of the committee already in motion. Our government remains transparent and purposeful in handling this matter. I appreciate the Kano State Government for their maturity and partnership throughout this challenging time.

“During the visit, we also proceeded to Uromi, where we met with members of the Hausa Community.Edo and Kano share long-standing ties in commerce, culture, and coexistence and we will continue to protect that relationship. Let me assure all residents, indigenes and non-indigenes that Edo State is a home for everyone.

“We are committed to safeguarding lives, upholding law and order, and preserving peace in every part of our state. Ours is a government of action. Our goal remains clear: to build a safer, united, and stronger Edo for all.”
