Hajj 2025: NAHCON conclude arrangements to commence operations, airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has concluded arrangements to kick off the 2025 Hajj operations, with the airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia scheduled to commence on May 9, 2025.

This was made known to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, by NAHCON at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Vice President, the Commissioner in charge of Operations, Inspectorate & Licensing, Prince Anofi Elegushi, said: “All hands are on deck, and I can assure all Nigerian pilgrims that they are in safe hands. Adequate arrangements have been made for airlift in and out of Saudi Arabia. We have made provisions for over 40,000 pilgrims, including state officials, and 13,000 others from the tour operators.”

According to the VP’s official X account: “The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (@nigeriahajjcom) has concluded arrangements to commence the 2025 Hajj operations, with the airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia scheduled to begin on May 9, 2025. The update was disclosed on Tuesday after the NAHCON Board briefed Vice President @KashimSM at the Presidential Villa on preparations for the 2025 Hajj exercise.

“Speaking to journalists after the meeting with the Vice President, the Commissioner in charge of Operations, Inspectorate & Licensing, Prince Anofi Elegushi, said that arrangements have been made in Makkah, Madinah, and other cities to ensure a hitch-free 2025 exercise. He said, “We have all of our accommodation intact in Makkah, Madinah, and other locations. They are ready to receive our pilgrims. We have secured enough bed spaces and paid for adequate feeding. We have picked May 9 for our first flight to Saudi Arabia, through Madinah. We intend to complete the airlift to Saudi Arabia by May 24 and begin the return journey by June 13, to conclude by July 2.”
