DR Congo Conflict: ‘We slept in the forest for three days’ – over 70,000 people flee into Burundi

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said, “over 70,000 people fleeing violence in DR Congo have crossed into Burundi.”

A refugee cried, “we slept in the forest for three days.”

The fighting between Congolese security forces and militant groups has forced more than half a million people to run away from the country.

According to UNHCR: ““We slept in the forest for three days.”

“Over 70,000 people fleeing violence in DR Congo have crossed into Burundi.

“We’re on the ground providing shelter, food and water. But devastating funding cuts put families at continued risk.”
