Canada: At least nine k*lled in Vancouver after vehicle plows into Filipino festival

At least nine (9) people were killed when a man drove through a crowd at a Filipino community festival in Vancouver, a western Canadian city, on the weekend prior to Canada’s federal election, police said.

On Saturday evening, Police said they had arrested a 30-year-old Vancouver man, who was “known” to them, at the scene of the incident.

Via X, Vancouver Police (@VancouverPD) said: “A number of people have been killed and multiple others are injured after a driver drove into a crowd at a street festival at E. 41st Avenue and Fraser shortly after 8 p.m. tonight. The driver is in custody.

“A 30-year-old suspect, a Vancouver man, was arrested at the scene.

“At this time, we are confident that this incident was not an act of terrorism. As of now, we can confirm nine people have died after a man drove through a crowd at last night’s Lapu Lapu Festival. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident.”
