FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualification: Nigeria 1-1 Zimbabwe – Super Eagles held at home

Nigeria’s hopes of making it to the World Cup faded after Zimbabwe held the Super Eagles at home on Tuesday evening.

Eric Chelle’s Nigeria finished 1-1 against Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday 25 March, 2025.

Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, placed the hosts in front in the 74th minute, however, the visitors fought back and clinched their leveller in the 90th minute, forcing Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the World Cup back in the balance.

Nigeria are 4th with 7 points, 6 points behind Group C leaders, South Africa, who discomfited Benin 2-0 today, while Zimbabwe are 6th with 4 points.

HC: Looks like Godswill Akpabio Stadium is no longer favouring the Super Eagles – either they lose/draw, time to move back to Abuja Stadium. *Lol*
