On the significance of the FIFA Club World Cup:
“It’s a special year for FC Bayern and it’s something special to play in a tournament like this anyway. A maximum of seven matches – that’s an enormous strain on all the players, but they’re all fired up for it. They not only want to participate, they also want to win. Having all of that as motivation, in our club’s 125th year of existence, is something very special.”
On the FIFA Club World Cup:
“The Club World Cup is a huge opportunity one year before the World Cup – the greatest opportunity to showcase European club football, to get the US audience even more excited about football outside of the MLS. The US is an incredibly exciting market. Therefore, it’s a real opportunity for us Europeans and for us at FC Bayern to gain an even stronger foothold in the US.”
