Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, disclosed, he inspected the ongoing construction of the Light-Up Ogun State project Phase one in Ewekoro, where turbines are being installed for power generation.
The Governor said, “during the inspection, we assessed the control room, installed equipment, and the first two turbines”, adding, “this marks the first phase of our plan to generate 100 megawatts, with 30 megawatts set to provide uninterrupted electricity to Abeokuta”.

According to Governor Abiodun: “Earlier today, we inspected the ongoing construction of the Light-Up Ogun State project in Ewekoro, where turbines are being installed for power generation. This marks the first phase of our plan to generate 100 megawatts, with 30 megawatts set to provide uninterrupted electricity to Abeokuta.
Following the Federal Government’s removal of power generation, distribution, and transmission from the exclusive legislative list, Ogun State has not only passed the necessary laws but has also begun implementing this critical initiative.
During the inspection, we assessed the control room, installed equipment, and the first two turbines. The plant is designed as a dual-fired system, capable of running on both gas and diesel for reliability.
We are pleased with the progress and remain committed to extending this project to Ota, Ijebu-Ode, and Sagamu. In the next eight weeks, we look forward to commissioning this plant, marking another unprecedented achievement in our administration’s commitment to a brighter and more electrified Ogun State.”
