DFB Cup 2024/25: Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 FC Cologne – Boniface’ winner sends Alonso’s side into semis

Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface’s extra time goal secure a spot for Bayer Leverkusen in the semi finals of the DFB Cup on Wednesday night.

Xabi Alonso’s Black and Reds came from two goals down to discomfit FC Cologne in the quarter final of the DFB Cup at BayArena on Wednesday 5 February, 2025.

Damion Downs and Linton Maina had shot the visitors ahead in the 10th minute of first half additional time and 54th minute respectively, before Patrick Schick pulled one back in the 61st minute and went ahead to level for Leverkusen in the 6th minute of additional time.

Boniface netted the winner for the hosts in the 98th minute to help Leverkusen through to the semi finals.

I. Rondic’s leveller for FC Cologne was struck out by VAR.
