Trump’s Inauguration: Chief Justice Roberts to swear in Trump as 47th US President

Today, Monday 20 January, 2025, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States (US) marking a political comeback.

The inauguration is holding indoors as a result of intense cold temperatures projected in the nation’s capital.

Chief Justice John Roberts is expected to swear in Donald Trump at the Capitol Rotunda.

According to an excerpt of prepared remarks, in his inauguration address, Trump plans to call for a “revolution of common sense”.

The 45th US President is expected to sign a slew of executive actions, encompassing starting a process to end birthright citizenship and declaring a national emergency on the US-Mexico border, as made known by incoming officials of the White House.

Political leaders, former Presidents, Barack Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton and influential businessmen, including Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are in the guest list.

Trump of the Republican Party defeated Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party in the US Presidential Election 2024 held on Tuesday 5 November, 2024 to become America’s next President.
