German Chancellor, Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz, has sent condolences to victims and families of the major earthquake that struck Tibet, China’s autonomous region on Tuesday 7 January, 2025.

The quake shook parts of Nepal and India; at least 126 people were killed, 188 injured and more than 1,000 buildings damaged.
In his condolence message, Scholz wrote: “After the severe earthquake in southern China, which was also felt in India and Nepal, our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We wish all those injured a speedy recovery.”
