A dynamite explosion at a residential area in Niger State led to destruction of property with residents affected.

The explosion occurred in the morning of Sunday 26 January, 2025 as “the exploded dynamite were reported kept by a local artisan miner in the wrecked apartment that he had rented for his workers”.

This is happening some days after a petrol tanker exploded in the North Central State where more than 100 lives were lost.

According to NEMA: “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been alerted of a dynamite explosion at a residential area of Sabon Pegi, Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.  


The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 26th January 2025, at about 7:30 am. 


The exploded dynamite were reported kept by a local artisan miner in the wrecked apartment that he had rented for his workers. Some residents of the area were affected by the incident and property destroyed. 


Meanwhile, NEMA Minna operation office and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) are working together in response to incident.”
