Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security under President Joe Biden, has said, the attack on New Orleans which led to the killing of at least ten (10) people is “being investigated by the FBI as an act of terrorism”.

This is coming after a driver drove a pickup truck through a crowd in the city during new year celebrations killing at least 10, and leaving more than thirty (30) injured.
The suspect stopped the truck and shot at two (2) police officers, however, the officers are stable in a local hospital.
According to Mayorkas: “We are working closely with our law enforcement partners in response to the situation in New Orleans. This abhorrent attack is being investigated by the FBI as an act of terrorism.
“Our hearts break for the families of those whose lives were lost and our prayers are with those recovering from injuries they suffered. We are grateful to the first responders for their bravery and urge the public to be vigilant.”
