2023 Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has called for an investigation to ascertain the “root cause” of the “tragic” fire incident which happened at the Sokoto Timber Market.

The former Vice President said, the investigation will help “avert the occurrence of similar incidents in the future.”
Atiku said, “this large-scale disaster has caused immense loss to hardworking Nigerians whose businesses and livelihoods depend on this bustling economic centre.”
According to Atiku: “I am deeply saddened by today’s tragic fire incident at the Sokoto Timber Market (Kasuwar Yan Katako).
