Salah scored the only goal for Liverpool in the Uefa Champions League 2024/25 League Phase match at Montilivi against Girona on Tuesday 10 December, 2024.
Robertson said, “when we need Salah the most, he steps up.”
According to liverpoolfc.com, in his post-triumph comments, Roberson said:
On the satisfaction of a sixth win in a row in the Champions League…
“Yeah, of course, six wins out of six – you can’t ask for much better than that. It’s not easy to do or there would be more teams doing it. Our performances have been good, we’ve won games. But we’ve played a lot better than tonight, that’s for sure, we weren’t at our highest level tonight. But at this point it’s about winning the games and securing qualification, and I think we’ve done that.”
On the level of control in Liverpool’s game…
“I think we had to be a wee bit more in control, sometimes in the first half especially it was a bit of a basketball match – back and forward – and that’s what they wanted. We left ourselves too open and gave our goalkeeper too much to do, which isn’t like us.”
On being named UEFA’s Player of the Match…
“I’ve had one before, I think a couple of years ago! Delighted to get it. Obviously it’s about the team but it’s always nice to get that recognition.”
On Salah’s brilliant form…
“Yeah, scoring goals. I think he’s played better than he did tonight – most of us have – but when we need him the most he steps up. He’s so good from the penalty spot, we never doubt him when we get the penalties.”
