Oyo State: NEMA conduct post-disaster assessment of a fire incident at Ifesowapo Market, Moniyan

According to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA): “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Zonal Office and the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (Oyo SEMA) conducted a post-disaster assessment of a fire incident at Ifesowapo Market, Moniyan, Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State, on December 5, 2024.

“The Chief of Staff of the LGA, Hon. Aderinwale Adeyemi, welcomed the team and briefed them on the fire, which occurred on December 2, 2024, around 12:15 am. He highlighted the extensive damage caused, which included shops, electric poles, streetlights, electrical gadgets, and a generator, amounting to millions of naira in losses. He also appealed for NEMA’s assistance for the affected traders.


The assessment was successfully conducted with the participation of NEMA, Oyo SEMA, local government representatives, and market leaders.”
