‘Murder Hornets’ eradicated from the US – Officials

The northern giant hornet which was first discovered in the United States (US) in 2019, has not been seen in three (3) years, according to officials.

It posed a threat to native insects, honey bees and other pollinators.

Officials announced on Wednesday, that so-called murder hornets have been eradicated from the US, five (5) years after the invasive species was first identified in Washington state.

The northern giant hornet has not been seen in three (3) years which made official announce its eradication from the US, the Washington and U.S. Agriculture departments revealed in a joint statement Wednesday.

Derek Sandison, Washington Agriculture Director, said in the statement: “I’m incredibly proud of our team, which has dedicated years of hard work to safeguarding our state and the nation from this invasive threat to our native pollinators and agriculture.”
