Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States (US), passed on Sunday 29 December, 2024 “surrounded by his family” at his home in Plains, Georgia.
Amina Mohammed wrote: “We’ve lost a giant.
Former President Jimmy Carter stood for peace, democracy, human rights and leaving no one behind.
I will especially remember him for his lifelong commitment to ensuring neglected diseases received the global attention, political will and investments they deserve.
From Guinea worm to river blindness—his leadership and the work of the @CarterCenter has saved millions of lives around the world and inspired many more to serve humanity.”
