At least three (3) people have been killed when armed men in Haiti opened fire at journalists, police and medical staff during a briefing to announce the reopening of the biggest public hospital in the North American country.
One (1) police officer and two (2) journalists were shot dead reportedly, while others suffered various degrees of wounds in the attack which happened on Tuesday in the general hospital in the capital Port-au-Prince.

After being occupied and destroyed by gangs, the site was recaptured by Haiti’s government in July.
Pictures uploaded online appear to show several people injured or dead inside the building.
Dieugo André, photo journalist, who had first hand experience of the violence, told Haitian Times, “It felt like a terrible movie.”
He added: “I have the blood of several injured journalists on my clothes.”
Leslie Voltaire, head of Haiti’s presidential transitional council, said: “We express our sympathy to all the victims’ families, in particularly to the Haiti National Police and all the journalists’ associations.
“We guarantee them that this act will not remain without consequences.”
