Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, received Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to the Southwestern State on a condolence visit following the “tragic airstrike” in Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa villages that claimed innocent lives.
“The Federal Government has assured us of a comprehensive investigation to uncover the cause of this unfortunate incident and to ensure justice for the victims”, Governor Sokoto disclosed.
Matawalle “made a generous personal donation of ₦10 million to support the families of those affected.”
According to Governor Sokoto: “I received the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to Sokoto on a condolence visit following the tragic airstrike in Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa villages that claimed innocent lives. The Federal Government has assured us of a comprehensive investigation to uncover the cause of this unfortunate incident and to ensure justice for the victims.
The Minister conveyed Mr. President’s deep concern and commitment to ensuring such incidents are prevented in the future. He also made a generous personal donation of ₦10 million to support the families of those affected, reflecting the administration’s resolve to provide both immediate and long-term support.
While I commend the tireless efforts of the military and security agencies in combating banditry, I have urged for improved intelligence and surveillance mechanisms to avoid such tragic errors. Sokoto State remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens.
