Christmas 2024: ‘Let’s be security conscious this Yuletide season’ – Governor Diri

Governor of Bayelsa State, Duoye Diri, has sent Yuletide greetings to the people of the South-South State, saying, “I wish everyone a fruitful “Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2025.””

“Let’s be security conscious this Yuletide season”, the Governor added.

Governor Diri made the remark at the 36th State Security Council meeting, the last for the year 2024, which he presided over today, Thursday 19 December, 2024.

According to Governor Diri: “Today, I presided over the 36th State Security Council meeting, the last for the year 2024.


In my opening remarks, I acknowledged the prevailing peace and security being enjoyed in the state.


Let me appreciate the Service Commanders of the various security agencies in the State for their support in making Bayelsa truly the safest State in the Country.


It is good to note that our investments in the security sector has been acknowledged globally with the award of “Best Security Conscious Governor” by the Security Watch Africa Initiatives in far away Doha, Qatar.


While I continue to appreciate the support of our people, the Prosperity Administration is taking more strategic steps to improve the security within Yenagoa with deployment of drones and installation of CCTV cameras round the capital city.


Let’s be security conscious this Yuletide season and like I often say, “If you see something, please say something” because it is in the general interest of all citizens.


I wish everyone a fruitful “Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2025.””
