Zamfara State: NEMA assess cases of armed banditry – ‘villages brutally atacked’

Head of NEMA Sokoto Operations Office SOO, Mr. Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi led a team for assessment of the situation of persons affected by armed Banditry in Zamfara State.

Hundreds of households from communities across Maradun and Bakura Local Government Areas of Zamfara State have been displaced by armed bandits. The bandits brutally attack villages for kidnap of members of the communities to ask for ransom from villagers that are already impoverished due to this recurring attacks. 

Members of the affected villages had to ran for their lives to take refuge with families and friends in Maradun and Bakura towns that are the Local Government headquarters. 

Others made makeshift tents of grass to sustain their lives in these towns, while some are taking shelter in Public schools.
