Israel V Hamas: PM Netanyahu appoint father of late Major k*lled in Gaza as Israel’s ambassador to the US

The Father, Dr. Yehiel Leiter, of late Major Moshe Yadida, killed fighting in Gaza on November 10, 2023, has been appointed as Israel’s ambassador to the United States by Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel has lost troops in the Gaza Strip in their fighting against Palestinian fighters, known as, Hamas.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas started after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on Saturday 7 October, 2024, killing more than 1,000 Israelis, and taking many others hostage.

According to Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu: “I decided to appoint Dr. Yehiel Leiter as Israel’s ambassador to the United States.


Doctor Leiter served in senior positions in the public service in Israel. In between, he served as Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Education, Chief of Staff of the Minister of Finance, and Acting Chairman of the Israel Ports Company.


Doctor Leiter, a child of the United States, has a deep familiarity with the American government and society.


His son, the late Major Moshe Yadida, was killed fighting in Gaza on November 10, 2023.


Yehiel is a highly talented diplomat, an eloquent speaker, and has a deep understanding of American culture and politics. I am convinced that Chahiel will represent the State of Israel in the best possible way, and I wish him success in his position.”
