At the dialogue, Governor Mbah made it clear “our communities, particularly those in the rural areas, deserve state-of-the-art education and healthcare facilities that meet global standards”.

According to Governor Mbah: “Today, I held a crucial dialogue with the contractors working on our 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state. Our discussion focused on the importance of high-quality and timely delivery of the projects.

While their genuine concerns were noted for immediate redress, I made it clear that delays are unacceptable. Our communities, particularly those in the rural areas, deserve state-of-the-art education and healthcare facilities that meet global standards. Reducing infant and maternal mortality is a priority, but achieving it requires full commitment from every contractor, as these projects are vital, life-saving resources.

I assured them of our administration’s commitment to fulfilling our financial and other obligations to them, and our plan to reward dedicated contractors with more opportunities. We’ve ensured that funding is in place, with payments guaranteed within five days of certification. In addition, we’ve adjusted project costs to account for inflation, empowering contractors to deliver without compromise.

We are building a future that every resident of Enugu State, from our cities to our rural communities, can take pride in. The success of these foundational projects is critical to Enugu’s future, and it is for this reason that I expect every contractor to honour their words, as we do ours.”
