Bayern Munich will play against Barcelona in the Uefa Champions League 2024/25 League Phase match on Wednesday 23 October, 2024 at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
At his press conference ahead of the encounter, Kompany said:
On preparing for Barcelona…
“Me as a person, I’m don’t make any differences between games and opponents. It’s now an important game for me. The difference is that I live every week, every game just like you reporters for this game against Barcelona. We want to test ourselves against the top clubs in Europe. It’ll be exciting.”
On Jamal Musiala…
“Everyone knows how important Jamal is for us. But it’s not just about one game against Barcelona but about the next 30-40 games. We need to find a balance in workload. Whether he just comes on as a sub or plays for longer – I don’t want to say anything about that.”
On Hansi Flick…
“Hansi wasn’t just a coach at Bayern. He was incredibly successful and represented Bayern in a special way. It will mean a lot to him to now play against this club. His style of play is clear, but mine as well. Let’s see who wins.”
On his approach tomorrow…
“Every coach has the goal to win with his idea. That’s why people are coming and want to see this game. That’s why it’s interesting. You can always tweak things tactically, but at the end of the day I don’t for a second believe that Hansi will adapt to us. They’ll play just like they’ve been playing lately, because they want success, just like us.”
