President of the United States (US), Joe Biden, has sent his congratulations to Claudia Sheinbaum, “first woman to serve as President of Mexico.”

Claudia Sheinbaum was sworn in as Mexico’s first female President on Tuesday 1 October, 2024.
Sheinbaum succeeds outgoing president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador at an inauguration ceremony in the country’s Congress on Tuesday.
The 62-year old Climate scientist and former Mexico City Mayor will serve a six-year term, ending in 2030.
President Biden wrote: “Today I spoke with President Sheinbaum to congratulate her on her historic inauguration as the first woman to serve as President of Mexico.
I look forward to continuing the strong and collaborative partnership that will advance prosperity and security in both of our countries.”
