NEMA coordinates reception of 165 vulnerable Nigerians from Libya

According to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA): “The NEMA Lagos Territorial Office LTO In conjunction with IOM and other stakeholders have continued to receive Nigerian returnees from Libya while ensuring safe, humane and dignified reception upon their arrival in the country.

The returnees arrived on 15 October, 2024 at about 1930 hours aboard charter flight Al-Buraq airline with registration no 5A-DMG with 165 returnees on board. The returnees comprised, 116 adult females, 31 adult males, 11 children and 7 infants.


Three medical cases were received among the returnees; they comprised two male adults with leg injuries and a female adult. The female returnee slumped immediately she alighted from the aircraft and was quickly attended to by IOM medics supported by NEMA Emergency Response team on ground. She was later diagnosed with low blood sugar by one of the doctors on ground and was offered first aid to stabilise her condition.


Stakeholders in attendance include NEMA, NCFRMI, IOM, NAPTIP, Police and FAAN.”
