Katz said, he made the declaration for Guterres’ “failure to condemn Iran’s missile attack on Israel, as well as his antisemitic and anti-Israel conduct”.
Iran launched “200 missiles of various types at Israel” on Tuesday 1 October, 2024 which struck “central and southern Israel”, forcing Israelis to take cover in bomb shelters.
Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in the wake of Iran’s attack at Israel, said, “Iran made a big mistake attacking Israel and will pay for it”.
President of Islamic Republic of Iran warned PM Netanyahu “never to enter into a conflict with Iran”, adding, “Iran has the right to defend itself”.
According to Katz: “I have declared UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres as persona non grata and barred him from entering Israel due to his failure to condemn Iran’s missile attack on Israel, as well as his antisemitic and anti-Israel conduct. A poll found that 87% of the Israeli public supports this decision. Guterres can continue seeking support from UN member states, but the decision will not change.”
