The US President said, “recovery and rebuilding periods can be long and difficult”, but assured he “will do everything in my power” to help Floridians back on their feet.

Hurricane Milton struck Florida just some days after Hurricane Helene had wrecked havoc in the coastal state.

The “extremely powerful” Milton made landfall in Sarasota County, Florida on Wednesday 9 October, 2024.

According to President Biden: “To the people of Florida:

I know recovery and rebuilding periods can be long and difficult. And that long after the press and cameras move on, you have to pick up the pieces.

But I want you to know I will do everything in my power to help you put the pieces back together.

“This Sunday, I’ll travel to Florida to visit areas impacted by Hurricane Milton, meet with first responders and personnel on the ground, and hear firsthand from community members as response and recovery continues.”
