Aftermath of Hurricane Helene |
Hurricane Helene which wrecked havoc in coastal States in the US has claimed more than 200 lives, as made known in latest reports.
The President has assured that his administration will ensure critical supplies and support is made available to victims “for as long as it takes.”
According to President Biden: “I want to thank the workers, carriers, and port operators for acting patriotically to reopen our ports and ensure the availability of critical supplies for Hurricane Helene recovery.
Today, our ports are open, dockworkers have secured record wages, and supplies can keep moving.
“The tentative agreement reached yesterday by shipping carriers and the longshoremen’s union that includes a record wage increase shows the importance of collective bargaining.
It was truly a service to the American people to keep the ports open following Hurricane Helene.”
