General Yakubu Gowon was born on 19 October, 1934 in Kanke, Northern Region, British Nigeria (now Kanke, Plateau, Nigeria).
In his ‘Tribute’, President Tinubu said, “he did a lot for our country and served meritoriously in various capacities both within and outside the military”.
