Bashir Ahmad, Digital Communications Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari, has reacted after Peter Obi explained to his “supporters” why he celebrated former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon on his 90th birthday.

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, sent his birthday greetings to General Yakubu Gowon when he turned ninety (90) few days back, however, put forth his explanation for celebrating the former Chief of Army Staff (January 1966 – July 1966) after “mixed feelings” from his “supporters”.
Ahmad described Obi’s “supporters” as “toxic”, saying, if his “supporters” could succeed in “forcing him to quickly and tactically explain his decision. Now, imagine entrusting the whole of Nigeria’s affairs to Obi, particularly the policies aimed at curbing separatists and insurrection”.
According to Ahmad: “Peter Obi innocently celebrated Gen. Yakubu Gowon on his 90th birthday, only for his toxic supporters to go on a rampage, forcing him to quickly and tactically withdraw by trying to explain his decision. Now, imagine entrusting the whole of Nigeria’s affairs to Obi, particularly the policies aimed at curbing separatists and insurrection. We would surely find ourselves at the mercy of those toxic supporters because he must not go against their direction.”
