EFL Cup 2024/25: Manchester United 5-2 Leicester City – Nistelrooy make beautiful start as Reds progress

It was a beautiful response from Manchester United to the exit of Erik Ten Hag with a 5-2 triumph over Leicester City in the EFL Cup 2024/25 fourth round match on Wednesday 30 October, 2024 at Old Trafford.

With this result, Interim manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s United are through to the quarter finals of the tournament.

In the 15th minute, midfielder, Casemiro, opened scoring for United and Alejandro Garnacho made it two in the 28th minute after converting Diogo Dalot’s assist.

Bilal El Khannouss netted the first for Leicester City, but, the hosts replied with two (2) goals in a short period of three (3) minutes through Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the 36th and 39th minutes respectively.

Conor Coady found the back of the net for the Foxes in the 3rd minute of first half additional time, before Portuguese midfielder, Fernandes, sealed victory for Manchester United in the 59th minute.
