DFB Cup 2024/25: Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 Elversberg – Schick win POTM ‘We are happy to be advancing again’ – Alonso

Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, has expressed joy after his side cruised past Elversberg 3-0 to advance to the next round of the DFB Cup 2024/25.

In the encounter which held on Tuesday 29 October, 2024, Czech forward, Patrick Schick, netted two early goals, in the 2nd and 9th minutes, and Aleix Garcia made it three for the Black and Reds in the 36th minute at BayArena.

Leverkusen boss, Alonso, said, “we are happy to be advancing in the cup again”.

Schick clinched Player Of The Match award after scoring a brace for the hosts.

In his post-victory comments, Alonso said: “these games aren’t always easy when players haven’t played together much in the last few months.


“We wanted to go through to the next round and we’ve done that and we are happy to be advancing in the cup again.”
